Hornsby worked with Mozambican musicians in early 2003. They came together to record at nights in a Maputo grammar school auditorium. Michael brought many of the songs that he had written during the nearly three years that he'd lived in Manica and the group finished their time together with performances at Maputo's premeire music venue, Áfricabar, and across the river in Catembe.
