A frequent visitor when living in Texas, Michael always loved the mix of rhythms to be heard in New Orleans, where he arrived in 2003.
Old friend Charles Lawrence, a sometime resident, put Michael up while he did odd jobs, found steady work, and began to develop material for the next round of recordings. Hornsby remains in New Orleans, writing, working, and playing.
Since coming to town, he's been featured on WWOZ, played the Louisiana Music Factory, many local bar-rooms, including the House of Blues and other venues that can be found in the links section. The bulk of his efforts in New Orleans have been spent paying for his nights around town and building a collection of his solo music, Curious Sounds. He works alone with a variety of instruments, recording his arrangements at home.
